30 Days of Gratitude 2025 - Day 11

I had to ask myself if there has ever been such a time. A time when I was fearless.
When there are difficult moments, scary moments, moments that I am uncomfortable with... I take a breath and respond in the best way that I can. Is that fearlessness? I'm unsure.
I have travelled to different countries, spoken in front of large gatherings, climbed up tall places, been at the bedside of the dying, and have had so many more experiences where the emotions and situations were difficult and, I suppose, where a measure of fearlessness was required just to be present.
Perhaps there is the answer. I give thanks for my breath, and for the practices and principles that allow me to be present.
In the Bhagavad Gita (chapter 16, verse 1) fearlessness, abhayam, is given as one of the twenty-six virtues of a saintly nature. Fearlessness comes when we realise that we are beyond the material, when we detach from that which we are not, and surrender to the Divine as we recognise our own nature. Detachment is one of the qualities of a true seeker that my Guru speaks about, and it is something I am working on.
Do you have a time when you were fearless? What do you think about fearlessness?
