Day 8 of 31: Hands
Day 8 of 31: Hands

I saw today's prompt for #AugustBreak2024 and thought that maybe I should take a photo of my hands in a mudrā. Because this is a yoga account and so... Maybe my hands should be held together in reverence, or in a gesture that builds focus.

Today was not the day for that (though if you would like to learn about mudras please let me know!)

Today is a day to remind myself to pause, to rest when I need rest, to take the time needed when I need it. This is why today's prompt is of me in rest. Hands on my stomach, feeling the movement of my breath.

The second photo is of my hands holding cat art and a maneki-neko, a lucky cat, because today we observe the #internationalcatday 🐱

What will you do with your hands today?

Day 9 of 31: Postcards
Day 9 of 31: Postcards

Sharing snapshots of today in lieu of actual photos of postcards. There are so many moments that call for us to be present, so many moments that I know we would like to keep forever, so many moments we can find to share.

These three were chosen to remember today, what I did, who I was with, what I am creating. Photos taken and then phone put away so I could be in the moment.

How do you celebrate your moments? How are you called to be present? 💌

I skipped day 10 because the prompt was "Cherries", instead I shared about the second cycle of the Sacred Canvas Sisterhood!

Day 11 of 31: Lunch
Day 11 of 31: Lunch

"But Renee, where's the food?!"

Sunday lunch did not exactly happen by me today. I woke early, drank my warm water, taught two private classes and then had brunch with my husband before tuning in to the last session of @bluestarcentre's Global Conference.

This screenshot was taken after the morning's presentations, during chanting that happened just before our midday meditation.

Over the past seven days the global community of the Blue Star came together to reflect, to be inspired, and to envision how we can make a difference in our spaces, how we can co-create a more harmonious world.

I am reflecting on this time and what has been shared. I am thinking of sharing my thoughts via my blog. Would you be interested in reading?

Day 12 of 31: Doodle
Day 12 of 31: Doodle

Revisiting these stick figure doodles as inspiration and foundation for another art project I have in mind. I'm thinking of things that persons can download and keep as inspiration or reminders. It's in my head at the moment but I hope to find the time to make it a reality.🖌️

 Day 13 of 31: I Crave
Day 13 of 31: I Crave

Community, connection, continuity.

Thinking of these tonight as part of this experience of being human. 🪔 This second week of August and moving into the third week is busy with family engagements (my cousin is getting married!) so I am unsure of how many posts there will be as I move forward and find the balance of being present and making space for things on social media.

Day 14 of 31: Vintage
Day 14 of 31: Vintage

I drove myself (and also possibly my husband) crazy trying to think of what to post for this prompt for day 14 of #AugustBreak2024.

What is vintage? What meaning do we apply to this word? Vintage inspires us to think of things that have a certain age and quality. @nealaluna says vintage things hold memories.

I work on non-attachment (the yama, aparigraha) and finding that balance of respecting and releasing. With regards to material things in my space, I hold on very strongly to things that have memories attached. One of the things I've held on to, that I haven't yet figured out where to let it go to, is this instrument pictured.

A zippy zither owned by my parent and now in my possession as he was ready to let it go and I'm not there yet. It is older than I am. Do I play it? Not often. Do I treasure it? Yes.

What are you holding on to? What do you need to let go of? 🪔

And thus ends week 2 of August 2024. I hope that by sharing these snippets we begin to observe how our yoga practice is present in every small moment, in the choices we make and the things that we do, how we take care of ourselves and others.

As I move further into August I am unsure how many more of these posts will be possible but either way I give myself the grace to see how it unfolds.

peace,

Renee Arundhati
