30 Days of Gratitude 2023 - Laughter

“I have seen what a laugh can do. It can transform almost unbearable tears into something bearable, even hopeful.” – Bob Hope
When I’m not quite sure what I want to share for #Gratitude30 that is when I’ll share a quote on the prompt. Today’s prompt for day 19 is “laughter”.
There is much in the world at present that can bring forth feelings of anger, sorrow and fear. There is much that can cause us to spiral down into darkness. When I find this happening to me, when I observe that I am becoming overwhelmed by world news or the current state of my country, I take time to pause and ask myself, “what good does this do?”
How can I manage myself and the work that I want to do if I allow myself to be overwhelmed? I question my feelings, drilling down to the reason for any overwhelm. I consider the tools that I have at my disposal. One of them is laughter, the laughter that comes from finding joy in the small, everyday moments.
Laughter has been recognised as good medicine for centuries, and now studies are being conducted to determine impact on the different levels of the body (physical, mental, emotional) and effectiveness.
I believe that when we tune in to ourselves we know that laughter and joy is good for us. Good for managing stress, for strengthening us, for building our resilience. This is what I have found through personal experience.
Will you make room for laughter today?
