August Break 2024 - Posts from the first 7 days
Renee Rampersadsingh | AUG 8, 2024

The August Break is a global community project hosted by Susannah Conway that has been ongoing for I'm not sure how many years now. Some years I join in, some years I don't - this year is one of those where I am taking part as a way to get back into posting on my social media. I love these kinds of projects, a list of prompts to reflect on over a given time period and I love taking photos. This is why, as I reflect on how I want to share on social media, on how much and what I want to share, I felt that this is a project to take part in at this time.
I am posting on Instagram and Facebook and at the end of the week will post the compilation of those posts here on the blog.

There's been a lot going on in my space and I have found it very hard to update here on social media. I have been taking time to be present with self and those close to me.
Perhaps this is the way... By doing something I love doing, such as posting in response to the #AugustBreak2024 prompts, and interspersing them with bits about work.
As we move into this new month I invite you to take time to pause, to notice where and how you are. What is needed for your growth in this moment? What is needed for your joy? What is needed for your health?
Be still and allow the answers to surface from the depths of your being. ✨

How thrilling is it to see Moko Jumbies in action? Very.
Creativity. Culture. Courage. These words (and many more) come to my mind. Share with me what words come to you!
Today's prompt for #AugustBreak2024 is 'Gold' - when I saw this Moko Jumbie (in the first photo) I knew I'd found my photo of the day.
The second photo shows me on stage, leading a chair yoga session at the opening leg of @ujuiceroots' 4-week S.L.Y.M. (S-soca, L-limbo, Y-yoga, M-moko) Festival. There will be other yoga teachers at the other locations so look out for them, take a moment to connect with self and then enjoy all the beauty of our culture.
The third photo is a collage of the Moko Jumbies at the event because they definitely have main character energy! ✨

A simple joy today - these cosmos that I've grown from seeds acquired.
The wind was blowing and flowers swaying so not the best photo but... Here's the photo for today's #AugustBreak2024
Pretty flowers that are visited by butterflies and bees alike. Flowers that can be worn, flowers that can be pressed. Flowers that remind me to pause and notice.
Sharing this poem by Emily Dickinson who was also a lover of flowers. 🌼

It is Sunday night. Today I taught a private yoga class, saw friends and shopped at a pop-up thrift market (@new.leaf.market), attended a zoom conversation (hosted by @arccocreate) to learn and share about third spaces.
It is Sunday night. In the moments between the different things I did today, I took time to check on my flowers and do some breathing, I put my feet up, and napped with my husband.
It is Sunday night. My husband has made me a cup of tea and I have been making use of my reverse colouring book (created by @kendranortonart and gifted by a friend) while listening to @cyndilauper.
Unwinding comes in many different forms throughout the day, and from day to day. How will you unwind today? ✨

A somewhat random prompt for #AugustBreak2024 today that sent me looking around for horse-related things.
This is what I came up with:
🐎 This figurine (Unicorno series 2, his name is Zamba) bought while adventuring with my husband back in 2013
🐴 My certificate for attending a Trauma Informed Training Workshop for Health Care Professionals, hosted by @horseshelpinghumans, in 2017
Last week I was told that I don't share enough about the work I have done and the work that I do.
Something I am thinking about as I share a little about horses.
If you have any questions about what services I offer, might offer or could offer please feel free to ask. ✨

I've shared before about my love for this book, this series, these authors. I thought I'd share it again for #AugustBreak2024 just in case you've missed my previous sharings.
Priestess of Avalon is a combination of history, fantasy and fiction. My favourite of the #Avalon series, the first I read that moved me to read all of the others. I've had this copy for over half of my lifetime and have read and reread many times throughout the years.
It makes me think, makes me question and every time I read it I find more to love.
What is your favourite novel? Do you have one? What makes it a favourite? 📖

Today's prompt for #AugustBreak2024 really had me thinking. Regret is not a feeling I experience often because of my thoughts about life, the karmic stage and divine timing.
We are here to experience this life - perhaps we are ready to experience and perhaps not, perhaps we are open to experiences and perhaps not. We learn and grow from our experiences.
If there is one thing I can clearly focus on as a regret, it is that I have wasted a lot of time believing that I was not a creative person. I know now that this is untrue and that we are all inherently creative in some way.
Now there is so much to explore that finding time, making time, for it all is a challenge.
That one regret has inspired me to include creative projects as part of my women's programme, the Sacred Canvas Sisterhood. Our second cycle begins this September and I look forward to creating with others. Curious about this programme? Send me a message and we'll discuss!
How do you work with regret? 🪔

Looking forward to what comes up within me over the next seven days. If you are interested in anything shared here, if you have questions or comments please feel free to reach out to me.
peace,
Renee Arundhati
