January's Sereni-Tea

Our first event of 2024 has been January's Sereni-tea - a blend of meditation, conversation and afternoon tea - which was held yesterday at the Angelo Bissessarsingh Heritage House in Belmont.
The Heritage House is a wonderful space that is protected under the National Trust Act of Trinidad and Tobago and has been lovingly restored by the Bissessarsingh family. From the moment I heard of its opening I knew that I wanted to host events there as I resonate in full with their vision (of a space where past treasures are thoughtfully preserved for the benefit of future generations) and mission (to provide a space for meaningful reflection and education and to foster a deeper understanding of all that has contributed to our shared history).
For this event we came together in community, opened with breath and meditation before introducing ourselves. It is always a joy to observe when strangers come together and connect due to these kinds of events. There is the comfort of shared experiences and conversations, the realisation that we are not alone on our journey through this life.
We enjoyed the tea provided by the Heritage House while sharing discussions on Grace, on joy and on the importance of taking care of self and filling one's own cup 🍵 We recorded a bit of what was in our heart at that moment.
This was followed by a tour of the house led by Carmelita Bissessarsingh, who is so knowledgeable and has so many stories to share. There is so much that we can learn from our past, our foundation. We ended our afternoon with a group meditation.
I am thankful for the connection, the community and the ladies who spent this afternoon with me. Much thanks as well to Gareth for our lovely photos and support!

Looking forward to future events in this space!
