UN|FOLD 2025

Renee Arundhati | AUG 13, 2025

I have become a big fan of zines lately. If you’ve been to a recent retreat or event I’ve facilitated you may already know this. Last year my friend Neala and I saw that Alice Yard, in collaboration with SPEC*, would be hosting a small publishing fair for micropublishers, zine makers and artists. She was able to attend… I was unable to due to my foot injury

Since then to now we’ve both created multiple zines. Mine are mostly educational - I’ve been using them to share bite-size information about yoga and myself. I find great pleasure in figuring out content, laying it out, printing, and folding them. When I decide to share with groups and at events, I ask my partner to help with the folding and it becomes a peaceful way for us to spend time together.

This year Neala was invited to be a feature contributor at UN|FOLD 2025 - this year’s event held by Alice Yard and SPEC*. She encouraged me to attend with some zines and I’m so happy that I did. My partner and I met so many artists and zinemakers, it was interesting to see how everyone expresses themselves! We often find that we see a lot of the same faces at events we attend - writers, artists, educators. There were some familiar faces and a few new ones. The energy of creating and sharing was empowering.

Here you can find a video of my experience that I put together to share on my social media. In this other video, put together by a local creative, you can get a grasp of the event as well as hear from some of the zine makers (I'm one of them!).

May you be inspired to create in whatever way you are called to.

Peace,
