World Labyrinth Day

Saturday 2nd May 2026 | 9:30 am or 1:00 pm

Ajoupa Gardens, Chickland

Every year, on the first Saturday of May, people around the world gather to celebrate both the labyrinth experience and the power of collective intention. The focus on this day is for peace - to hold that intention of peace in ourselves, peace in our communities, peace in our world.

Join with us to learn about labyrinths, and to experience walking the labyrinth. This is your opportunity to participate in a global moving meditation for peace.

World Labyrinth Day (WLD) is an annual international event founded by The Labyrinth Society (TLS) in 2009.

See below for an outline of our event, reasons to attend, and our faq section!

Flyer for Breathe Retreat - April 2026
“The labyrinth as a whole is a symbol of many things, and primarily it is a symbol of wholeness, oneness, your journey in life, and the interconnectedness of all of existence”

- Tony Christie, "Labyrinth: Your Path to Self-Discovery"

The Labyrinth Experience

Walking has always been a form of meditation for me. I remember using affirmations with each step as a child. As a teenager I was introduced to and practiced Tai Chi - walking in this practice became a way to learn balance, focus, and grace. In 2009, as a volunteer at the Kripalu Center in Massachusetts (USA), I found such quiet peace and clarity through walking the labyrinth on the grounds.

Two of the photos shared here are from that time in 2009, and the last one is of my mother in the labyrinth on our visit in 2010.

From then to now I have loved this experience. This year, on World Labyrinth Day, I invite you to join me for:

  • A brief talk on labyrinths - their history, their significance and value, and the ways in which we can use them in daily life

  • A labyrinth walk - you shall be guided through Ajoupa Gardens to our small labyrinth where you can observe what comes as you walk in and out

  • A meditation on peace - held on the Brink, allowing us to integrate our experience and join with the collective intention of the day

Benefits of walking a labyrinth

Labyrinths can be found in numerous spaces around the world, with some dating back to thousands of years. They are thought of as tools for personal and community transformation

Some benefits that one may experience are:

  • a greater sense of peace

  • increased clarity

  • reduced levels of stress and anxiety

  • greater connection to nature and community

We look forward to sharing this experience with you!

“The labyrinth literally reintroduces the experience of walking a clearly defined path. This reminds us that there is a path, a process that brings us to unity, to the center of our beings. In the simple act of walking, the soul finds solace and peace.”
- Lauren Artress, “Walking a Sacred Path: Rediscovering the Labyrinth as a Spiritual Practice”
